What People Are Saying..

I was not raised knowing I was Jewish.  I discovered my Jewish heritage when I was an adult with a six year old son.  Even though I was not religious or inclined to join religious organizations, I found myself searching for an opportunity to learn and experience what being Jewish could mean to us individually and as a family.  We soon found ourselves standing in the open door of the Chabad’s Jewish day school in Knoxville, Tennessee.  My son and I were both nervous as we were uncertain how or if we would fit in and we knew nothing about what it meant to be Jewish.  However, this was all about to change in the most beautiful way for what we learned almost immediately was that the Jewish day school was not just a school for Jewish children, it was a home for Jewish families and a way to connect with the whole community.  Our son received a stellar academic education and we all made life long relationships with fellow families, teachers, and so many members of the community who volunteered at and supported the school.  The treasure one will find at a Chabad-run day school is both diversity of religious observance (from some to very little to none at all) and inclusivity because within the walls of the Chabad family, everyone is welcome.  So while we may not currently have a school aged child to send to Aleph Academy, we are thrilled that the Huntsville Jewish community now has an opportunity for their children to have a safe and inspiring preschool so that they too can learn what being Jewish means to them.
